Lancer Men's Volleyball wins McGill Invitational with tournament sweep

The Lancer men's volleyball team won the McGill Invitational with a three game sweep over the weekend in Montreal.

Over the two day tournament, the Lancers faced the University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds, the RMC Paladins and the host McGill Redmen.

The Lancers faced the Redman first, in a game that went right down to the bitter end. Windsor prevailed over a tough McGill squad with a five set 3-2 (25-27, 25-21, 23-25, 30-28, 15-12) victory.

In the win, third year middle Josh Edwards was named Windsor's player of the game.

Game two saw the Lancers come face to face with the familiar RMC Paladins. Also members of the OUA, the Lancers face the Paladins each year and knew what to expect heading into the match.

With that knowledge behind them, the Lancers easily defeated the Paladins 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-18). Justin Kuskoff was named Windsor's player of the game.

Heading undefeated into the final contest of the weekend, Windsor swept their second game of the weekend with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-19) win over the UNB Varsity Reds. Windsor's player of the game was Adam Prieur.

Edwards was named the tournament MVP, while Prieur and Kyle Williamson were named tournament all-stars.

The Lancers will host the Canadian Masters team for a pair of games on October 10th and 11th, prior to the start of their season on October 24th when they host the Toronto Varsity Blues at 8:00pm.
