Lancers fall 3-2 to York in shootout at Windsor Arena

Adam Feniak scored his first goal of the season against York on Saturday night.
Box Score The Windsor Lancers Men's Hockey team was defeated 3-2 in a shootout by the York Lions on Saturday night at Windsor Arena.

With the overtime defeat, the Lancers are now 7-10-4 on the season and move back into eighth spot in the OUA Western Conference.

On Saturday night, after falling behind 2-0 after two periods, Windsor got a pair of goals from Matt McCready and Adam Feniak to tie up the game.

McCready's goal came on a powerplay early in the third period to cut the York lead to 2-1. Assists went to Josh Gaynor and Kyle Lang.

Feniak's goal was his first of the season and it came at the 11:22 mark of the third period. Assisting on the goal were Kyle Lang and Kyle Nishizaki.

After finishing regulation tied at 2-2, the two teams moved to overtime to try and decide the game. The Lancers had a number of good chances in the extra frame to seal the victory, but were unable to convert.

In the shootout, York scored the lone goal to claim the 3-2 victory.

Jim Watt made 57 saves in goal for the Lancers.

The two teams will be back in action on Sunday in the inaugural OHL/OUA Scholastic Showcase at the WFCU Centre. The Windsor Spitfires will take on the Niagara Ice Dogs at 2pm followed by the Lancers and York Lions at 4:30pm.
