Box Score 2 The Windsor Lancers Women's Volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to the York Lions on Saturday afternoon at the St. Denis Centre, followed by another 3-1 loss to the Ryerson Rams on Sunday.
With the two losses, the Lancers fall to 1-13 in conference play this season.
On Saturday, Windsor and York split the opening two sets with the Lions winning 25-21 in set won followed by the Lancers taking set two by a score of 25-19.
The Lions would take over from there as the won the next two sets by scores of 25-19 and 25-13 to earn the 3-1 match victory.
In the loss,
Kaila Seguin led the way with 20 kills and 12 digs.
Jillian Fantuz recorded 39 assists in the match.
On Sunday against Ryerson, the first set rarely saw a point spread of more than two as both teams played aggresively throughout the entire set. A full round of serving by
Mackenzie Coyle gave the Lancers the offensive jump they needed as they gained a five point lead. Unfortunately, Windsor could hold the lead and dropped the set in extra points, 24-26.
The second set was even tighter than the first, as each team refused to make an error. Windsor managed to break the one point stalemate, and take the set 25-22.
The Lancers jumped to an early 8-1 lead in the third, before the Rams came storning back to tie the game 9-9. The teams traded points for the remainder of the set before Ryerson came ahead for the 22-25 win.
In the fourth set, the Rams prevailed over the Lancers 17-25.
Kaila Seguin led the Lancers with 19 kills and 14 digs, while Michelle Peice contributed 12 kills.
Windsor will travel to London on Friday night to take on their rivals the Western Mustangs at 6:00pm.
