Women's Hockey kicks off 2010 with home and home series against Western

Lancers to host Western at Windsor Arena on Sunday

Kelly Meincke and the Lancers will host the Western Mustangs on Sunday at Windsor Arena.

The Windsor Lancers Women's Hockey team will open their 2010 campaign with a home and home series against the Western Mustangs this weekend.

The Lancers currently sit at 5-11 on the season and tied for 8th place in the OUA alongside the Brock Badgers.

Windsor is five points back of the Mustangs who are in sixth spot in the conference through the first half of the season.

Up front, the Lancers have been led all season by the scoring duo of Manon Davis and Julie Hamilton.

Davis, a native of Sudbury, Ontario has recorded 11 goals and 15 points in 15 games thus far this season. Hamilton, a native of Lucknow, Ontario has chipped in with 6 goals and 11 points through the first half.

Coach Hunter's team will need to make a move early here in the second half if they are going to earn an OUA playoff berth this season. That will require strong goaltending from veteran Jamie Tessier and a more balanced scoring attack up front.

The Lancers will kick things off on Saturday when they travel to London, Ontario to battle the Mustangs at 4:00pm at Thompson Arena.

On Sunday, they will host Western in the second half of the home and home series at 5:35pm at Windsor Arena.
