The Lancer Women's Hockey team continued their impressive start to the 2010-11 season with weekend sweep of the UOIT Ridgebacks and Queen's Gaels.

With the wins, the Lancers are now undefeated on the season with a 3-0 record and sit tied for second in the OUA standings.

The Lancers started the weekend with a convincing 6-2 victory over the UOIT Ridgebacks on Saturday afternoon.

Courtney Spoors continued her impressive rookie season as she scored her third goal of the season to give the Lancers a 1-0 lead seven minutes into the game.

The Lancers would go ahead 2-0 in the opening frame thanks to Maxine Baronette's first goal of the year.

In the second period, Manon Davis would score her first of the game to give the home team a commanding 3-0 lead.

UOIT would bounce back with a pair of goals halfway through the period to cut the Lancer lead to 3-2.

However the Lancers would seal the victory in the third period on three consecutive goals from Jenny MacKnight, Davis (2) and Candice Chevalier for the 6-2 win.

Kasey Martin made 24 saves in goal for the Lancers to earn the victory.

On Sunday, rookie Courtney Kourounis scored the game's lone goal to give Windsor a 1-0 lead over the Queen's Gaels.

In a tough match-up against the Gaels, the Lancers managed to hold off the visitors tough forwards with hard back-checking and forced the puck down the ice into the Queen's end.

With less than a minute remaining in the second period, the Lancers took advantage of their powerplay opportunity as Kourounis was set up perfectly by Spoors and Adalena Tridico.

The game remained scoreless for the final twenty-minutes as Lancer goaltender Jamie Tessier made 41 saves in the game to preserve Windsor's win.

The Lancers will next travel to Toronto next weekend to take on the Toronto Varsity Blues and York Lions.
