Men's Volleyball sweeps No. 9 McMaster in home opener

The Lancers celebrate a three match sweep over the No. 9 Marauders

In their highly anticipated season opener, the Lancer Men's Volleyball team turned in a dominating performance as they swept the #9 ranked McMaster Marauders at the St. Denis Centre.
 
The Lancers had the fans on their feet for almost the whole match as they swept the Marauders in three straight games. (25-19, 25-19, 25-19). View the boxscore here.
 
On Friday night, it was an intense match right from the first serve as the two teams traded points right through the second technical time out. Windsor used some outstanding power hitting from Josh Edwards and Kyle Williamson to take the opening set 25-19.
 
The Lancers used a solid .765 attack percentage in the first game to give them the advantage compared to McMasters .444.
 
Set two was just as entertaining as the two teams showed tremendous skill and agility. The Lancers got a spark from rookie Adam Thompson whose inspired blocking helped them capture set two by an identical score of 25-19. 

In the third, the Marauders held the lead for most of the set as they tried to slow Windsor's momentum. However, the Lancers fought their way back into the set and eventually overtook the Marauders to close out the match with a 25-19 set win to the delight of the fans.  
 
The Lancers got outstanding performances from Kyle Williamson (13 kills) Ryan Le (11 kills) and Josh Edwards (10 kills) in the victory.
 
Windsor will be back in action on Saturday night as they host the Guelpy Gryphons at the St. Denis Centre. The match is set for 8pm.
