Saturday's game score was the same match results as their devastating playoff loss to the same team last season.
As with last year's match-up, Lancer fans were stunned with the final result after watching Windsor out play their competitors for most of the match.
Key hitting from
Ryan Le and
Kyle Williamson in the first left the Gryphons stumbling over the floor as the Lancers fought to the first two technical time-outs then finished off the first set 25-21.
Rigorous play continued in the second set with Guelph taking the offensive edge. The Lancers found themselves down late in the set and were unable to come back losing it 25-19.
Reaching the first technical time out 6-0, the second at 16-6 and closing 25-19, Windsor dominated in set 3, never letting their opponent come within 5 points of their lead.
Harrison Oake and
Kyle Williamson had 6 and 4 kills respectfully.
Adam Prieur had 13 assists.
Set four saw non-stop action with back and forth scoring throughout. Guelph managed pull ahead in the dying few points ending it 25-22, bringing the match to a tie and forcing a fifth set on the determined Lancers squad.
After quick rallies and heated on floor action the Lancers lost the final set 15-8.
The intense Lancer men's volleyball team will carry on at 8pm next Friday, October 29th when they face their rival the Western Mustangs at the St. Denis Centre.
