Lancer Football returns home to take on York on Windsor Minor Football Day

The Lancer Football team returns home this Saturday afternoon to take on the York University Lions at 1pm on Alumni Field.

Saturday's game is Windsor Minor Football Day with all youths and who wear their team jersey or a football jersey of any kind gettting in free of charge. There will also be lots of great prizes and giveaways at the stadium that day for the children.

For the Lancers, they are coming off a bye week in the schedule and have had time to re-focus and fine tune their game plan for this week.

They'll be looking to continue their dominance of York on Saturday as they have won four straight against the Lions dating back to 2006. Windsor will also be looking to improve their record to 2-4 on the season and keep their playoff hopes alive.

The Lions come into Saturday's game with an 0-5 record and in search of their first win of the season. They are coming off of a 64-6 defeat at the hands of the McMaster Marauders last week.

Lancer quarterback Sam Malian has returned to the line-up after being out two weeks with a concussion. The third year pivot will look to return to form against the Lions defense which has allowed an average of 460 yards against per game.

In his first game back from injury against McMaster two weeks ago, Malian finished 8 of 20 passing for 125 yards. He and the Lancers spent the better part of their bye week looking for ways to free up their offensive weapons, including the running game which has struggled thus far this season.

The Lancers defence will also need to rebound from the McMaster loss if they are to shut down York quarterback Nick Coutu and the Lions offense.

Don't miss all the action this Saturday afternoon at 1pm on Alumni Field. As part of Windsor Minor Football Day, all minor football players and youths wearing their team jerseys will get into the game for free of charge.
