Box Score
The Lancer women's hockey team won a 2-1 overtime thriller against the Western Mustangs to stay alive in the OUA playoff race.

With both teams fighting for the last playoff spot, it was an intense match-up right from the first puck drop.

Windsor came out strong in the first period dominating the shots and the aggressive play. With the Lancers unable to capitalize their scoring chances, Lancer goaltender Tessier also held Western scoreless in the first.

At the beginning of the second, Windsor came out a little tired and let a goal slip by to give Western a 1-0 lead. After a number of hard fought penalty kills, the Lancers finished the period strong.

As they took to the ice in the third period, Windsor stepped up their game peppering Western goaltender Jessica Ulrich with shots. Late in the period, at the very end of a Lancer power play, a pass from Jodilyn Brown and Manon Davis was fired to Captain Kelly Meincke, who ripped one perfectly along the ice and past Ulrich to even the score.

Tied at the end of regulation, and each team earning a point in the standings, the game went into the extra frame. Windsor only needed a minute and ten seconds to take the win. Manon Davis received a pass from Canadace Rapchak and stormed the net, firing the puck past Ulrich for the win.

In net, Tessier stood strong for Windsor making 39 saves in the come from behind win.

Prior to the game the Lancers honoured graduating athletes, Meincke, Brown, Casandra Meloche, Julie Hamilton, and Ashley Kirby in a pre-game presentation.

Heading into their final game of the season on Monday against Lauier, the Lancers are one point behind the Mustangs and Brock Badgers for the final playoff spot. To earn the final spot, the Lancers will need a minimum of one point against the first place Hawks to win the tie-breaker.
