Hunter, Lancers prepare to face Lions in OUA Quarter-Finals

Lancers make first playoff appearance since 2008

The Lancers will take on York Saturday at 2:00pm
The Windsor Lancer women's hockey team is preparing for their first playoff game under first year head coach Jim Hunter, as they face the York Lions in the OUA quarter-finals on Saturday afternoon in Toronto, ON.

The Lancers finished the season in sixth place in the OUA standings with a 13-14 record, narrowly edging the Western Mustangs and Brock Badgers for the final playoff spot.

Capturing only five wins in the first half of the season, Windsor has gone 9-2 since Christmas and defeated the No.2 ranked Laurier Golden Hawks in the final game of the season to clinch the sixth and final spot in the post season.

The Lancers will look to Windsor Lancer athlete of the week Jamie Tessier to continue her solid play in net, as well as to Manon Davis who finished the regular season with an OUA league leading 19 goals to put Windsor ahead on the leader board.

Windsor will need to keep an eye on York's Courtney Unruh who finished the season with 9 goals and 20 assists, as well as goaltender Sydney McMurter who finished third overall in the OUA with a 1.98 goals against average.

This season, the Lions won the regular season series against the Lancers as they captured two of three games.

The puck is set to drop at 2:00pm at the Canlan Ice Sports Arena. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for all students and seniors.
