The Lancers head into the OUA Quarter-Finals fresh off of a thrilling three game series win over the #7 ranked Waterloo Warriors.
The white hot Lancer squad has gotten some big time performances from rookie forward Kyle Tront and goaltender Jim Watt to keep their current playoff run alive.
Sunday's pivotal game three against saw Tront score his third goal of the post season and his biggest in a Lancer uniform as his double overtime marker lifted the Lancers past the favoured Warriors and into the West semi-finals. The first year forward from Thunder Bay, Ontario is proving to be a big game player as he currently sits with five points and two game winning goals in three playoff games.
Watt has also been solid in net for Lancers in the post season, coming up with timely saves while stopping 108 shots over three games. The native of Edmonton, Alberta has picked up his play in the second half of the season and was particularly sharp in their playoff series victory over Waterloo.
Coach Hamlin's squad will look to continue their strong play in the playoffs and maintain their excellent special team's efficiency. Their penalty kill has been operating at an impressive 93.8%, while their power play has recorded three goals in the three playoff games.
Heading into the series, the Lancers will also look to reverse their regular season trend against Western as they have dropped all three meetings during the regular season.
Fans are reminded that game two of the series will kick off the Lancer Playoff Palooza weekend on Friday night at 7pm at Windsor Arena. Tickets for the game are $8 for adults and $5 for all students and seniors.
For those fans interested in seeing all of the Lancers playoff action this weekend, they can pick up a “Lancer Playoff Palooza Pass” at the Sports Information Office in the St. Denis Centre for only $25 for adults and $20 for students and seniors.
