Box Score Brooke Ludolph's two goal performance elevated the Lancer Women's Hockey team to a 5-1 victory over the UOIT Ridgebacks on Sunday afternoon in Oshawa.
With the win, Windsor moves to 11-14-0 on the season and they remain in a tight two point battle for the sixth and final playoff spot with the Western Mustangs and Brock Badgers.
After remaining scoreless for most of the first period, Ashley Kirby opened the scoring with less than twenty seconds left in the frame to put the Lancers up 1-0.
Windsor would extend their lead early in the second, as Ludolph was awarded a penalty shot after being tripped up on a breakaway. She would go on to sneak one past UOIT goaltender Emma Thompson for her first CIS career goal to give Windsor a two goal lead.
In an intense period full of penalties, UOIT scored their only goal of the game just a few short minutes later on the power play to bring the game to within one at 2-1.
The excitement of the second period continued as Windsor went on to score three more unanswered goals before the end of the frame. Kiely Barnett also scored her first CIS goal, while Manon Davis chipped in her 18th of the year, and Ludolph added another to her career total.
Up 5-1 heading into the third, the Lancers turned in a solid defensive effort in the final twenty minutes to claim the victory.
Jamie Tessier made 30 saves in goal for the Lancers.
Windsor will play their final home game of the regular season in what may be the deciding game for the final playoff spot on Saturday afternoon. They'll host the Western Mustangs at South Windsor Arena with the puck drop set for 4:10pm.
