Box Score 2 The Windsor Lancers Men's Volleyball team split a weekend series on Kingston, falling to the Queen's Gaels before sweeping the RMC Paladins the following day.
On Saturday night against Queen's, the Gaels took an early 8-1 lead in the first set due largely to four service aces in the opening set.
Despite a late push by the Lancers that threatened the Gaels lead, the home team earned the hard fought 28-26 set victory.
The second set saw Queen's and Windsor fight to establish a lead. The powerful hitting from Queen's late in the set turned the tide for the Gaels as they earned a 25-20 victory.
In set three, the two teams engaged in a see-saw battle with both teams looking to earn a critical third set win. Despite a valiant effort, the Lancers were edged out 32-30 to end the match.
Top players for the Lancers were Shane Byrne and Josh Edwards who each had 17 points with 11 and 10 kills respectively.
On Sunday against Royal Military College, the Lancers overwhelmed the Paladins in the first set with an easy 25-8 victory.
RMC battled back hard in the second set as they took it right down to the wire. The Lancers were able to hold off the Paladins as they won the set, 25-23.
In the third, the Lancers managed to keep control of the play for a majority of the set as they cruised to the 25-17 set win and match victory.
Josh Edwards led the Lancers with 10 kills and 5 blocks, while Kyle Williamson chipped in 10 kills, an ace, 5 digs and one block.
The Lancers now have three games remaining in the regular season with all of them being on the road. Next up they will travel to Waterloo to face the Laurier Golden Hawks on Friday, February 12th.
