Ryerson came out of the gate with some energy in the opening set. The Rams strung together consecutive points on multiple occasions to earn their first set victory in six contests.
The second set was tightly contested at its beginning, as neither team allowed momentum to gather on the other side of the net.
The Lancers would ride some errors by Ryerson to a 16-13 advantage at the second technical. Seguin tallied an ace, and the Lancers would extend the lead, forcing the Rams to take a timeout down 22-15. The native of Windsor, Ont. came right back with another ace following the break, helping her team tie the match at 1-1 with a second set win.
Windsor carried the momentum into the third, taking a commanding 8-3 lead early on. Ryerson tried to get back into the set with a couple of kills, Pierce found the court with another point, spreading the difference to eight.
The Rams continued to struggle handling serves, and Windsor tallied three more aces while taking the third set handily 25-16.
The fourth and final set was not much different, as Ryerson again started slow, and had to play catch-up after going down 4-1. A nice tip brought the Rams to within one, but Windsor proceeded to score seven straight.
While the Rams went on a small streak, their efforts would only be thwarted by Pierce again, as she sealed the game with two straight blocks. Windsor took the fourth 25-17, and the match 3-1.
Seguin was named player of the game for Windsor while Wolfenden took home similar honours for the Rams.
Windsor will look to continue their momentum on Sunday as they take on the York Lions at 4:00pm
