Box Score Eager to hit the court after their first win of the season on Saturday, the Lancer women's volleyball team played a tight game against the York Lions, and took the first place Lions to five sets.
Unfortunately the Lancers were unable to snag their second win of the season, falling 3-2 (12-25, 23-25, 28-26, 25-23, 11-15).
Windsor is now 1-8 on the season, while the Lions move to 9-1 and maintain control of first place in the OUA East division.
The Lancers struggled to find their feet in the first set as they quickly lost to the strong Lions 12-25.
The ladies did not let their weak first set effect the rest of the game, as they quickly rebounded and kept the second set very tight, narrowly losing 23-25.
Windsor's momentum continued in the third as they took the Lions into extra points and came out on top 28-26.
The fourth set saw much of the same as Windsor again rallied and tie the game at two with a close 25-23 set victory.
In the fifth, it was a back and forth battle until the end when York was able to pull away building a few point lead, and taking the set 11-15.
Michelle Pierce had another strong game for the Lancers with 11 kills, 13 digs, 6 solo blocks and 23 points.
Windsor hits the court again next weekend as they travel to Hamilton to face the McMaster Marauders on Friday January 14th at 6:00pm, and the Guelph Gryphons on Saturday in Guelph. That game is also at 6:00pm.
