Men's Hockey drops 4-1 decision to Badgers

Box Score The Lancer Men's Hockey team dropped a 4-1 decision to the Brock Badgers on Friday night at the Seymour-Hannah Centre.

With the loss, the Lancers are 2-4 on the year and are still tied for seventh in the OUA West with the UOIT Ridgebacks.

On Friday night, Brock opened the scoring just two minutes into the first period when sophomore Thomas Stajan scored his third goal of the season on Lancer goaltender Dan Savelli.

Less than four minutes later at 5:44, Sean Jones would bury a rebound at the edge of the crease past Savelli.

With four minutes remaining in the first period, Brock freshman Dylan MacEachern beat Parker Van Buskirk for his second goal of the season, to give the Badgers a 3-0 lead. Van Buskirk came in to replace Savelli in the opening frame.

The Lancers would finally get on the board midway through the third period when Evan Stibbard added a shorthanded marker for his first goal of 2011. Matt McCready and Steve Ferry were credited with the assists.

With Van Buskirk on the bench in favour of an extra attacker, Brock added an empty-netter at 19:42 on the power play to secure the win.

In goal, Van Buskirk made 30 saves for the Lancers, while Kurt Jory had 32 for the Badgers.

The Lancers will return home next weekend in search of a victory as they host the York Lions and Laurier Golden Hawks at Windsor Arena on Friday and Saturday night.
