Box Score 2 The Lancer women's volleyball team lost a pair of games on their opening weekend of the 2011-12 season. On Friday night, Windsor lost a hard fought five set game to McMaster 3-2, before falling 3-0 to York on Saturday.
On Friday, the two teams battled a majority of the first set for the all important first set win, and Windsor would get it, beating the Marauders 25-20.
In the second set, the Lancers would win again by the same score. The Lancers capitalized on McMaster's seven errors in the set and only ten kills. Windsor had 12 kills and only two errors in the set.
In the third set, McMaster battled back, earning the win 25-22. The fourth set was another close one, and McMaster would force the fifth set with a 25-23 win.
In the fifth set, the Marauders took a large lead of 7-2, as a result of some strong serving. The Lancers fought back at the switch though, tying up the score 13-13. However, McMaster would pull off the win, coming back from a two set deficit for the win.
For the Lancers,
Kaila Seguin had 18 kills and 17 digs and teammate
Ana Vrcelj had 12 kills.
Hannah Robson had 23 digs for Windsor.
On Saturday, the Lancers struggled against the York Lions falling in three straight sets 22-25, 15-25, 20-25.
Windsor will play their first home game of the season this coming Friday when they host the Brock Badgers at 6:00pm at the St. Denis Centre.
