Box Score Led by
Evan Stibbard's five point night, the Lancer men's hockey team dominate the UOIT Ridgebacks en route to a 10-2 victory on Saturday night in Oshawa.
Stibbard recorded three goals and two assists as the Lancers are now 7-5-0 in regular season action and sit in third place in the OUA West division.
After a scoreless first period, the Lancers lit up the score board in the second period with five unanswered goals.
Ryan Green got his seventh of the season just one minute into the period to start the scoring, before Stibbard recorded his fourth of the year, and first of the night, on the power play at the 6:18 mark of the period.
Steve Ferry followed that up with a power play marker of his own at 14:36, before Stibbard notched his second of the night with the extra man exactly one minute later.
Drew Palmer closed out the second period scoring with just 0:19 second left on the clock for his sixth of the year.
The Lancers would score two more goals from Stibbard and
Brett Vandehogen before UOIT would finally get on the board to spoil
Parker Van Buskirk's shut-out.
Up by six with 14 minutes remaining,
Derek Lanoue scored his first of two consecutive goals to bring Windsor up by seven again. Lanoue would score again just three minutes later.
UOIT's Kevin Goerge notched the Ridgebacks final goal of the night at the 10:33 mark, while Lancer senior
Mark Thorburn closed out the game's scoring at the 15:06 mark of the final period.
Van Buskirk made 22 saves in net for the Lancers as the Blue & Gold outshot the host team 36-24. Jason Guy took the loss for the Ridgebacks making 26 saves.
Windsor will return home next weekend to host the Lakehead Thunderwolves in a weekend doubleheader at Windsor Arena. Puck drops at 7:30pm on both Friday and Saturday night.
