Mustangs defeat Lancers 2-1 in women's hockey action

Box Score The Lancer women's hockey team dropped a 2-1 decision to the Western Mustangs on Saturday afternoon at South Windsor Arena.

With the loss, the Lancers remain in fourth place in the OUA with a record of 6-4-1.

After a scoreless first period, Jenny MacKnight opened up the scoring with a quick goal at 1:20 of the second period. Assists were credited to Alyssa Baldin and Courtney Spoors.

Western would retaliate with a pair of goals in the second period to take a one goal lead heading into the third period.

At the 7:15 mark of the middle frame, Western's Stacey Scott accepted a pass from Brittany Clapham and Marianne Filson to tie the game. Ten minutes later, Katie Dillon took advantage of the Western power play to put the Mustangs up by one.

The third period was another scoreless period, as Windsor was unable to capitalize on any scoring opportunities.

Windsor will now break until November 19th when they head to Toronto to take on the York Lions. In their previous meeting, just two weeks ago, the Lancers came out on top, defeating the Lions 5-2 at South Windsor Arena.

The Lancers return home on Saturday November 26th to face the Toronto Varsity Blues at 4:10pm at South Windsor Arena.
