Box Score Led by
Candace Rapchak's four point night, the Lancer women's hockey team earned their second straight victory with a 5-2 win over the York Lions on Saturday afternoon at South Windsor Arena.
With the win, the Lances are now 5-3-1 on the season and sit in fourth place in the OUA.
Windsor jumped on the scoreboard just 0:19 seconds into the first period when
Candace Rapchak setup
Bree Polci for her third goal of the season.
The Lancers took a two-goal lead 5:53 into the second period, as Rapchak beat York goaltender Sydney McMurter for her second goal of the campaign.
Manon Davis and Polci added the assists.
The Lions would answer back with a single goal from Kiri Langford less than two minutes later to bring the game within one with 12:39 left in the second period.
At the 14:20 mark, Rapchak and
Alyssa Baldin set up
Adalena Tridico on the power play, who put one past McMurter for her first of the year to again give Windsor a two goal lead.
The Lions again retaliated within two minutes as Andrea Joyce scored her fourth of the year on Lancer goaltender Julie Ouroumis. Assists went to Kim Remcharn and Kriten Barbara.
The third period was a fairly quiet affair until the final five minutes of regulation when the Lancers scored a pair og goals.
Windsor would take a 4-2 lead 17:48 into the third period. Rapchak and Polci setup Davis, who scored on McMurter for the two-goal lead.
Less than a minute later,
Courtney Spoors secured the win for the Lancers with her sixth marker of the year.
Ouroumis made 17 saves in net for the Lancers, while York's McMurter turned aside 38 saves.
Windsor will host the Western Mustangs on Sunday afternoon at 4:10pm at South Windsor Arena.
