Box Score The Lancer men's volleyball team ended their regular season with a 3-1 (18- 25, 25-16, 31-29, 25-19) over the Toronto Varsity Blues on Saturday on the road.
The Blues came out strong in the first set of the match. The play began close, but soon after the first technical, the Lancers began to falter, losing a number of points to technical fouls. The host team riddled the Lancers with shots, leading the Blues to a 25-18 victory.
In a complete reversal, the Lancers came out swinging in the second, led by Jimmy El-turk. At the second technical the Blues came close to a comeback at 16-13, but they couldn't continue their pace for long and the Lancers shot ahead for a 25-16 runaway win.
The third was the closest set of the match, as El-turk and
Kyle Williamson kept the Lancers going. In an extremely tense final, tying more than eight times in the final minutes of play, Williamson notched the final kill for the Lancers at 31-29.
In the final set of the match, the Lancers managed to nab the final set, defeating the Blues 25-19.
For the Lancers, Williamson led all players with 19 kills, followed up by
Harrison Oake with 14, and
Ryan Le with 11.
The Lancers will now play the Guelph Gryphons in the OUA quarter-finals on February 19th in Guelph.
