No. 9 Lancers end regular season with loss to Guelph

Box Score
The No. 9 ranked women's hockey team ended their regular season with a 5-1 loss to the visiting Guelph Gryphons on Sunday afternoon at South Windsor Arena.

Guelph took a 1-0 lead midway through the first period before Manon Davis tied up the game for Windsor with her twelfth of the season.

The Lancers looked a little fatigued coming into the second with the game tied at one. Windsor ran into some penalty trouble throughout the period which allowed the Gryphons to convert three power play goals in the period and take a 4-1 lead heading into the final period.

Guelph built on their lead in the third with their fifth marker of the game six minutes into the period.

Lancer goaltender Jamie Tessier made 30 saves in her final home appearance as a Lancer.

Prior to the game the Lancers honoured graduating athletes Tessier, Davis, Candace Rapchak, Cassandra Finn, and captain Julie Hamilton.

The Lancers will now face the Queen's Gaels in round one of the OUA playoffs next weekend in Kingston. Stay tuned to goLancers.ca for more playoff information as it becomes available.
