The Windsor Lancer football team hits the road this weekend as they travel north to Waterloo to take on the Waterloo Warriors.
Windsor looks to improve on their strong 2-1 start to the season, while the Warriors are still searching for their first win of their campaign.
The Lancers are coming off a 21-19 loss to the No. 6 McMaster Marauders this past Saturday on Alumni Field. Lancer QB
Austin Kennedy played an active role in keeping Windsor close, going 25 for 42 and 3 touchdowns.
Standout receiver
Jordan Brescacin continued his red hot start to the season as he made 8 catches for 111 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Cory Fernandes contributed 6 catches for 59 yards and 1 touchdown.
Against the Warriors, the Lancers will have to take advantage of a Warrior defence that has given up an OUA high 171 points in three games this season. Warrior QB Evan Martin is ranked #1 in Canada in yards per game averaging 280.3, but also leads the CIS in interceptions with eight.
Martin can expect some pressure from a disciplined Windsor defence. Defensive back
Matt McGarva, currently ranked ninth in the CIS in total tackles with 22, and
Brad Adams, will be called upon to lead the defensive attack.
The last time these two teams did battle, the Warriors overwhelmed the Lancers 49-0 back in 2009.
