Women's Hockey dominates Ryerson in exhibition play

The Lancer women's hockey team opened their pre-season schedule with an impressive 8-2 victory over the newly formed Ryerson Rams on Saturday at South Windsor Arena.
 
First year Lancer Alyssa Baldin led all scorers with a hat trick in her first appearance as a Lancers. Rookie Ally Strickland also had a three point night registering two goals and an assist, while Captain Candace Rapchak had three assists.
 
The Lancers took a 2-1 lead after the first period with a shorthanded and unassisted power play goal by Baldin.
 
Stickland scored her first of the game, and the only goal of the frame in the second to keep the Lancers up by two heading into the third.
 
The Lancer offense exploded in the third as they registered five goals, including two on the power play. Baldin and Strickland rounded out their scoring, and singles were netted by newcomer Bree Polci, Jenny McKnight, and Courtney Spoors.
 
The Lancers will travel to Pittsburgh this coming weekend to face Robert Morris University in their final pre-season game.
 
Windsor will open the 2011-12 season at home on October 8th and 9th when they play host to the Waterloo Warriors on the Saturday and the Laurier Golden Hawks on Sunday. Both games are at 4:10pm at South Windsor Arena.
