Box Score The Lancer men's volleyball team lost a tight 3-0 (20-25, 24-26, 22-25) match to the first place Western Mustangs on Friday night in London.
With the loss, the Lancers move to 9-5 on the year and in third place in the OUA standings with four games remaining in the regular season.
Both teams traded points throughout the first set to start what would be a very competitive game. The Lancers kept right with the Mustangs until right at the end when the Mustangs pulled ahead for the set win.
Not wanting to fall behind by two sets, the Lancers put up some big blocks and attacks to send the set in extra points. In the end, a defensive Lancer error would give the Mustangs the 26-24 set win.
Windsor challenged Western through the entire third set, going point for point right to the end. Unfortunately, the Lancers were unable to come out on the winning side of the score, giving the Mustangs the win.
The Lancers will return home for their final pair of regular season games next weekend. They will take on the York Lions on Breast Cancer Awareness Day on Saturday January 28th at 3:00pm. The Lancers will be selling pink CIS reusable tote bags for only $5 to help raise money for the cause.
Windsor will close out their last game at home on Sunday January 29th at 3:00pm when they host the McMaster Marauders on Seniors' Day. Prior to the first serve, the Lancers will honour their graduating athletes in a pre-game ceremony.
