Lancers fall to No. 2 Golden Hawks and Warriors on the road

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Lancer women's hockey team lost a pair of road games over the weekend to the Laurier Golden Hawks and Waterloo Warriors.
 
Windsor was shutout 3-0 on Friday night against the No. 2 ranked Laurier Golden Hawks, before falling 4-2 to Waterloo on Saturday.
 
The Lancers are now 9-9-2 on the year and sit in sixth place in the OUA.
 
On Friday against Waterloo, Lancer goaltender Julia Ouroumis made 43 saves in the loss for Windsor.
 
The Golden Hawks scored a goal in each period to earn the win.
 
Against Waterloo on Saturday, Lancer goalie Karlyle Robinson allowed three goals on 22 shots with the other marker on the empty net.
 
Jane Gaffney opened the scoring three minutes into the second period following a scoreless first as she slipped one past the Warrior netminder to give Windsor the 1-0 lead.
 
Lancer captain Candace Rapchak put her team on top 2-0 with a shorthanded marker.  Rapchak's ninth of the season was assisted by Bree Polci.
 
Waterloo's Sarah Wolfe cut the Lancer lead in half with her second of the season, an unassisted goal.
 
Kelly MacLean would then even the score eight minutes into the third before rookie Victoria Bertrand found the net for her first goal as a Warrior to give Waterloo a 3-2 lead.
 
The Lancers continued to pepper the Warrior goaltender with shots but were unable to even the score. Waterloo added an empty netter late in the period to earn the win.
 
Windsor returns home next weekend to host the UOIT Ridgebacks on Saturday January 28th and the Queen's Gaels on Sunday January 29th. Saturday is Breast Cancer Awareness Day and the Lancers will be selling pink CIS reusable tote bags, for only $5, with all proceeds going to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
