Lancers win big against Brock; shut out Gryphons

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Windsor Lancers women's hockey team exploded offensively in the second and third periods against the Brock Badgers on Saturday, tallying nine goals in the final two stanzas to record a decisive 12-2 victory, and followed that up with a 2-0 win over Guelph on Sunday afternoon.

Alyssa Baldin and Courtney Spoors were lethal throughout the contest, as the forwards tallied four goals each to spur the Lancers to victory.  Candace Kourounis, Jenny MacKnight and Bree Polci also got on the score sheet for the Lancers. Goaltender Karlyle Robinson stopped 15 of 17 shots to pick up the victory for the Lancers, who were 2-of-7 on the power-play.  The Badgers capitalized on 1-of-6 opportunities with a man-advantage,

Against the Gryphons Sunday, Baldin and Candice Chevalier were the Lancer scorers in Windsor's second straight win. Robinson had another great day in net, stopping all 21 shots fired at her by the Gryphons.

With a 8-4-0 record, the Lancers will return home next weekend sitting in third place in the OUA standings. The Lancers will host the UOIT Ridgebacks on Saturday and the Western Mustangs on Sunday. Both games are slated for 4:10pm at South Windsor Arena.
