Shannon Dean recorded a game-high 12.5 points, leading the Windsor Lancers women's volleyball team to a 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-20) victory over the Lakehead Thunderwolves on Saturday afternoon at the St. Denis Centre.
The Whitby, Ont. native, who leads the team with 54.5 total points on the year, helped Windsor (2-3) to its second victory over the past three contests after the Lancers started the year with two straight losses. Dean picked up 10 kills on the day, while fellow rookie
Roshanna Matthews (Brampton, Ont.) and veteran
Kaila Seguin (Windsor) each added five kills in the win. The Lancers tallied just eight attacking errors compared to 25 from the Thunderwolves (0-5), who have yet to record in a win this season. Vanessa Chorkawy had a game-high 12 kills in a losing cause for Lakehead.
The Lancers will look to get back to .500 tomorrow afternoon, where the two teams will close out their double-header weekend at the St. Denis Centre. Game-time is set for 1:00 p.m.
