Windsor edged by Warriors 2-1 in Waterloo

Box Score The Lancer women's hockey team fell 2-1 to the Waterloo Warriors on Sunday afternoon on the road.

With the loss, the Lancers are now 9-5-2 and sit in fifth place in the OUA. The win for Waterloo broke a three game losing streak for the Warriors, who are now 4-9-2 and in eighth place.

The first two periods was all Windsor as they controlled the neutral zone and continually put the pressure on the Warriors. Despite a number of scoring chances, Windsor was unable to get on the board.

Lancer goaltender Karlyle Robinson did a great job keeping the Warriors at bay as well, turning aside a partial breakaway midway through the second period to keep the game locked at 0's heading into the third period.

The Warriors found the game's opening goal early in the third on a power play goal by Nicole Ballantyne at 3:44.

Windsor continued their strong pressure but again the Warriors staved off the attack and held a 1-0 lead late into the game.  Windsor would force three straight offensive zone face-offs but Waterloo's Sarah Wolfe secured the Warrior win with an empty netter with 38 seconds remaining in the contest.

Candice Chevalier added a late goal for the Lancers to spoil Bouwhuis' shoutout bid but it was not enough as the Warriors earned the 2-1 win.

Windsor returns home this Saturday for their final game of 2012 before the holiday break. The Lancers will host the Queen's Gaels at 4:10pm on December 1st. Fans are asked to please note that the game will be played at TECUMSEH ARENA, instead of their home ice of South Windsor.
