Lancers fall in five set thriller to Western

Box Score WINDSOR, Ont.- The Windsor Lancers men's volleyball team fought hard from being down two sets, but their comeback bid fell just short as they fell in five sets (25-12, 25-20, 23-25, 23-25, 15-12) to the Western Mustangs on Wednesday evening.

In front of a raucous Lancers audience, the men found life in the third and fourth sets of the match after being dealt quick losses in the opening stantas.  Down 11-6 in the third, the men were able to streak to tie the game midway through the set, before moving ahead of the Mustangs and get on the board.  However, afterning garnering a fourth set victory over Western, the men were unable to overcome the Mustangs in the fifth and final set. 

Kyle Williamson led the team with 14 kills, while Blase Wasser picked up a team-high 13 digs in a losing cause for the Lancers, who drop to 2-7 on the year.  The Mustangs improve to 7-2, and were led Justin Scapinello and Garrett May, who each tallied a game-high 20 kills.

The men return to the St. Denis Centre on January 19 and 20, 2013, where they will host the RMC Paladins and Queen's Gaels respectively.
