Box Score 2 The Lancer women's hockey team dropped a pair of games on the road this weekend against the Western Mustangs and Queen's Gaels.
Windsor started the weekend in London against the Mustangs, where they fell 7-5 in a high scoring affair.
Windsor came out of the gates storming to get the lead, as the Lancers dominated the play and kept the puck in the Western zone. As the shot total piled up, Windsor eventually saw success from captain
Alyssa Baldin. Windsor took a 1-0 lead into the second period, outshooting the Mustangs 17-3.
The Mustangs scored two goals to start the second before
Bree Polci took advantage of a breakaway and tied the game up 2-2.
Western again scored two straight goals before Windsor was able find the back of the net again. Baldin scored her second of the game to bring the Lancers within one. Western however scored off the next faceoff to take a 5-3 lead heading into the third period.
Adelana Tridico and
Jenny MacKnight each scored in the third period but it was not enough as the Mustangs scored a pair of their own for the 7-5 win.
Just 18 hours after the completing that game, Windsor faced off against the Queen's Gaels, falling 5-2.
Queen's outshot the Lancers 14-8 in the first period and took a 3-0 lead after the first period.
The Gaels took a 5-0 lead before Baldin scored her third of the weekend to make the score 5-1.
In an evenly paced third period, the Lancers penetrated the Gaels defense for a late third period goal scored at 18:28 by Candance Kourounis bringing the game to its final score of 5-2.
