The Windsor Lancers Men's Hockey team will host game one of the OUA Quarter-finals on Thursday night when they face-off against the York Lions at Windsor Arena.
Puck-drop is set for 7:30pm on Thursday night.
The Lancers are red hot heading into the playoffs as they've won six straight games including impressive victories over Western and Waterloo in the final week of the season.
Coach Hamlin's squad wrapped up the regular season portion of their schedule on Saturday night when they beat the Waterloo Warriors 6-3 at Windsor Arena.
Christian Steingraber, Spencer Pommels,
Evan Stibbard,
Steve Ferry,
Ryan Green and
Isak Quakenbush scored the goals for the Lancers while
Parker Van Buskirk made 28 saves in net.
The Lancers finished the season with a 15-12-1 record and in fifth place in the West Division, just a single point behind fourth place York.
The story this season for Windsor has been the exceptional play up front of a number of rookies who have all made a big impact in the OUA. First year forward
Evan Stibbard led the team in scoring with 30 points in 28 games, including 14 goals in his freshman season.
Local rookies
Ryan Green (12 goals, 25 points),
D.J. Turner (23 points),
Drew Palmer (20 points) and
Derek Lanoue (10 goals, 19 points) have also had impressive rookie campaigns for the Lancers.
Windsor finished 8th overall in the CIS in goals scored this season with 105 tallies on the year and second in Canada in power play goals with 35.
In addition, the veteran defensive pair of
Steve Ferry and
Matt McCready have also had strong seasons with Ferry finishing second in team scoring with 25 points while McCready added 22 points in 28 games.
In goal,
Parker Van Buskirk has come on strong in the second half of the season and has been solid in net for Coach Hamlin. Van Buskirk finished the regular season with a 15-9 record with a 2.99 GAA and .907 save percentage. He'll be expected to carry the load as the Lancers look to make a deep playoff run in 2012.
