Women's Hockey advances to semi-finals with 1-0 victory over Guelph

Ally Strickland handles the puck in game two of the OUA quarter-finals
Box Score Led by Krysten Bortolotti's lone goal, and some outstanding goaltending by Julia Ouroumis, the Lancer women's hockey team swept the Guelph Gryphons in the OUA quarter-finals.

With the 1-0 win, the Lancers will face the No. 1 ranked Laurier Golden Hawks next week in the OUA semi-finals.

Tensions were high from the first drop of the puck, as both teams came out blazing.

Windsor's Ouroumis and Guelph's Stephanie Nehring made some crucial saves throughout the game to keep the score deadlocked at zero through two periods of play.

With time starting to wind down, the Lancers increased the pressure in the Guelph end. In a scramble in front of the Gryphon net, Bortolotti popped in a rebound over Nehring's shoulder to give the Lancers the lead at 11:15 of the period.

Over the final eight minutes, the Gryphon offence was no match for the Lancer defense, as Windsor prevented the Gryphons from taking any viable shots in their attempt to tie the game.
