Box Score The Lancer Women's Hockey team will head back to Waterloo for game three of the OUA semi-finals after falling 4-1 to the Laurier Golden Hawks in game two of the best of three series.
The Hawks came flying out of the gate in the first period and scored a pair of goals two and a half minutes apart midway through the opening frame. First, Candice Styles scored her first goal of the playoffs on a powerplay before Katherine Shirriff finished off a feed from Tammy Freiburger to give Laurier a 2-0 lead after the first period. Laurier outshot the Lancers 17-5 in the opening twenty minutes.
Laurier would stretch their lead to three just two and a half minutes into the second period when Caitlin Muirhead fired her second of the playoffs past Windsor netminder
Julia Ouroumis.
The Lancers would respond just a minute later when
Krysten Bortolotti banked one off a Hawks defender in front of the net and past Erika Thunder to make the score 3-1.
Laurier would restore the three-goal lead before the midway mark of the second period as Laura Brooker scored a shorthanded marker.
In the third period, the Lancers were not able to create many opportunities but held the Golden Hawks off the board.
Ouroumis finished the game with an outstanding 41 saves.
