Box Score The Windsor Lancers Men's Hockey team's season came to an end with a 5-3 loss to the UQTR Patriotes in the OUA bronze medal game on Sunday afternoon in Trois Rivieres.
With the win, the Patriotes earned the final berth into the CIS Men's Hockey Championships in Fredericton, New Brunswick next week.
On Sunday, after a scoreless first period, UQTR's Billy Lacasse and Tommy Tremblay scored four minutes apart in the first six minutes of the second period to give the Patriotes a 2-0 lead.
Evan Stibbard would score his third of the post season at the 11:00 minute mark to bring the Lancers within one. Assists were credited to
Drew Palmer and
Matt McCready.
UQTR would add another pair of goals from Olivier Ouellet and Jean-Sebastien Breton before the end of the period to take a 4-1 lead heading into the third period.
Maxine Levesque would increase the Patriotes lead to four at 8:16 of the third period.
The Lancers began to chip away at the UQTR lead just four minutes later when Stibbard added his second of the game on a Lancer power play.
Windsor's final goal of game came at 14:18 of the period, as DJ Turner knocked the puck past Patriotes goaltender Guillaume Nadeau.
The Lancers applied heavy pressure on Nadeau in the final minutes, but were unable to capitalize on any chances.
Parker Van Buskirk made 31 saves in net for the Lancers.
