Box Score The Windsor Lancers lost 43-23 against the Western Mustangs at TD Waterhouse Stadium in London Saturday afternoon in OUA football.
The Lancers are now 2-2 on the season heading into week four of the season next week.
Trailing 29-2 after three quarters the Lancers refused to give up, beginning a comeback attempt early in the fourth quarter as quarterback
Austin Kennedy scored on a QB dive to earn Windsor's first touchdown of the day. They wouldn't waste much time getting their second TD, as Kennedy found
Evan Pszczonak on a 20-yard pass to pull Windsor within 13 with 10 minutes left on the clock.
Less than three minutes later Western's Yannick Harou replied for Western with a one yard TD run that was set up by a 58-yard run from Garret Sanvido who was pulled down just outside the endzone.
Kennedy then continued to show why he's one of the top quarterbacks in the OUA leading his team on a six-play 85 yard drive that ended with a five yard TD pass to
Jordan Brescacin. With the completed passes to Brescacin, Kennedy surpassed Hec Crighton winner Scott Mallander as the Lancers all-time leader in touchdown passes.
The Lancers would pull within 10 a few minutes later on a 14 yard field goal, making it 36-26 with just over a minute remaining.
That would be as close as the Lancers got as the Mustangs picked off a Kennedy pass and returned it 68 yards down to the Windsor eight yard line to end the Lancers hopes of a comeback, and set up a final one yard TD run to make it a 46-23 final.
Kennedy completed the game with 21-48 passing for 338 yards and two touchdowns, while Brescacin had 141 receiving yards on 10 completions.
The Lancers will play the next two games at home. They'll face York Saturday and Queen's Oct. 6. Both games are at Alumni Field and start at 7 p.m.
