Lancers snap losing streak with triumph over RMC

Box Score WINDSOR, Ont.- The Windsor Lancers women's volleyball team snapped a long losing streak on Saturday afternoon by tallying a big 3-1 (23-25, 25-23, 25-11, 27-25) victory over the visiting RMC Paladins at the St. Denis Centre.

In a tightly contested match, the women were able to persevere after losing the opening set to the Paladins, who had previously defeated the Lancers in straight sets back on November 18 in Kingston.

Shannon Dean and Kaila Seguin were the top point-getters on the afternoon, combining for 29 kills and 32.5 points, while Elizabeth Vandenborn was lethal on serve, notching four aces which included the final point of the fourth set that clinched the match for Windsor.

The Lancers garnered a .150 kill percentage, compared to .100 for the Paladins.  The women move into 11th place with a 3-9 record on the year, while RMC drops to 2-9 on the season.

Windsor will hit the road next Friday and Saturday, when they travel to York for a match-up with the Lions and follow that with a game against the McMaster Marauders.  Both games will take place at 6:00 p.m.

The Lancers are back at the St. Denis Centre on February 1 and 2 to host the Toronto Varsity Blues and Ryerson Rams respectively.
