Lancers lose critical match to Toronto

Box Score WINDSOR, Ont.- The Windsor Lancers men's volleyball team fell 3-1 (25-21, 19-25, 25-20, 25-19) to the Toronto Varsity Blues on Friday evening at the St. Denis Centre.

With an opportunity to move within a win of both the Varsity Blues and Ryerson Rams, the men are instead looking at an uphill battle for a shot at the postseason coming out of Friday's contest.

All-star Kyle Williamson led the Lancers with 13 kills and 15 total points on the evening, while Greg Simone chipped in with 12 kills and a game-high 10 digs.  However, it was not enough to overcome the Varsity Blues, who move to 6-9 on the year and three games ahead of the Lancers.  Toronto put forth a balanced attack led by Jake Dysselhof who picked up 11 kills and a team-high 15 points to help sput the Blues to victory.

Windsor sits at 3-12 heading into Saturday evening's match against the Ryerson Rams (5-10), who lost on Friday to the Western Mustangs.  The Lancers can move to within two points of the Rams with a victory tomorrow evening, while a loss could be the final blow to their playoff hopes.

Saturday's match gets underway at approximately 8:00 p.m. on Breast Cancer Awareness Day at the St. Denis Centre.
