Lancers sweep home weekend with win over Waterloo

Box Score WINDSOR, Ont.- The Windsor Lancers women's volleyball team went the distance for the third time in their first four regular season games, but the result was different on Saturday night as the women notched a 3-2 (25-27,25-14,18-25,25-21,15-10) victory over the Waterloo Warriors at the St. Denis Centre.

The victory moves Windsor (2-2) back to the .500 mark, and they are now tied for third place in the OUA West divison with the Warriors (2-2).

Senior outside hitter Kaila Seguin had a monster evening, picking up a game-high 24 kills as well as 16 digs and two blocks, while Melissa Smyth and Mackenzie Coyle added 16 and 13 points respectively. Libero Hannah Robson recorded a game-high 23 digs, and Danielle Lenarduzzi notched 51 assists, also a game-best.

Including the women's preseason, the Lancers have had 10 of their last 11 games go the distance, garnering a 6-4 record in five-setters over that span. Windsor opened the conference schedule against Lakehead last weekend, and ended up on the losing end of both their games in Thunder Bay. However, after notching their first win of the season on Friday against McMaster, the women rallied from 1-0 and 2-1 set deficits to claim their second win of the year.

Windsor will return to the St. Denis Centre next Friday evening when they will host the rival Western Mustangs (0-3), who are winless to start their season. The game will kick-off at 7:00 p.m.

The women will then travel to St. Catharines, Ont. to take on the Brock Badgers next Sunday to wrap up their weekend action.
