Women's Volleyball falls to Ottawa in nation's capital

Box Score The Lancer women's volleyball team had their winning streak come to an end on Saturday afternoon with a 3-1 (17-25. 25-20, 11-25, 18-25) loss to the No. 8 Ottawa Gee-Gees in the nation's capital.

The first set saw the Gee-Gees take an early lead, and multiple attacking errors by the Lancers gave Ottawa to build on their lead and take the set 25-17.

The Lancers rebounded in the second and dominated the court for the entire frame, registering 16 kills in this set alone, and taking the set 25-20.

Ottawa found their feet again in the third, knocking down balls consistently throughout the set. The Lancers struggled to execute some successful offensive plays, and the Gee-Gees easily won 25-11.

Fifth year middle blocker Kaila Seguin and the Lancers began rounding up the points early in the fourth capitalizing on some crucial Ottawa errors. The Lancers' middle proved difficult for the Gee-Gees to contain throughout the match as fellow middle Shannon Dean totalled at team-high 13 points including 11 kills.

However, the Lancers' early lead was later overthrown by Ottawa's Myriam English's six service aces in the set, including five straight after Windsor held a 16-13 lead the technical timeout.

Windsor will return to the court next Friday night when they travel up the 401 to London to face the Western Mustangs. Game time is scheduled for 6:00pm.
