Lancers split weekend home games

Kaila Seguin notched a game-high 18 points, guiding Windsor to a 3-1 victory over Brock on Saturday afternoon.
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 WINDSOR, Ont.- The Lancer women's volleyball team split their final two home games of 2013 this weekend at the St. Denis Centre.

Heading into the holiday break, the Lancers (6-4) hold sole posession of first place in the OUA west division.

Kaila Seguin recorded a game-high 18 points, as the team notched a 3-1 (22-25,25-19,25-21,25-17) triumph over the Brock Badgers on Saturday afternoon. The hometown product notched an afternoon-high 16 kills and added two blocks for the Lancers.

Mackenzie Coyle tallied 12 kills, 11 digs and three aces, while Shannon Dean added 11 kills and three aces for Windsor. Danielle Lenarduzzi grabbed 44 assists, and Jessica Shepley garnered a team-high 15 digs for the women, who worked at a .170 efficiency compared to .080 from the visitors.

The Badgers were led by Shenise Power who totalled a team-high 17 points, including 14 kills and 2.0 blocks.

Windsor's potency continued to climb with each set, as the women shook off a first set loss where they worked at just at a -.026% percentage, limiting their errors from that point on. As a result, their efficiency shot up, and they garnered a solid .370 pecentage in the final set of play en route to the victory.

On Sunday, the Blue & Gold lost their first game on home court with a 3-0 (20-25, 16-25, 25-27) loss to the Guelph Gryphons.

Seguin had a team high 15.5 points on 13 kills and 2.5 blocks. Lenarduzzi had a team high 36 set assists, while Hannah Robson led the team defensively with 10 digs.

Guelph was led by Madison DeDecker with 17 points, including 14 kills, one block and seven digs.

Windsor will now break for exams and the Christmas holidays and will return to regular season action on January 12th against the McMaster Marauders in Hamilton, ON. The Lancers return to the St. Denis Centre on Friday January 17th when they host the Queen's Gaels at 6:00pm.
