Lancers top Badgers with shootout triumph

Drew Palmer tallied an assist win Windsor's 3-2 shootout win over Brock on Saturday night.
Box Score ST. CATHARINES, Ont.- Mike Christou and Spencer Pommells each found the goal in the shootout, and the Windsor Lancers men's hockey team topped the Brock Badgers 3-2 on Saturday evening for their second consecutive victory.

The win places the Lancers (11-4-0) in second place in the OUA West division with one game remaining for the men before the holiday break. Windsor will take on the rival Western Mustangs at Comerica Park on December 16.

The Lancers fought back from two one-goal deficits, as Curtis Longland and Eric Noel each tallied a goal to help send the contest into overtime and a shootout soon after. The Badgers took a 2-1 lead into the final 20 minutes, but Noel's third of the season from Josh Graves and MacAulay MacDonnell at the 11:48 mark of the third evened the game. Julian Luciani and Drew Palmer also picked up assists on Longland's second of the year.

Taylor Speed earned the win in between the pipes for Windsor, turning aside 24 shots and making two of three saves in the shootout. The Lancers were 0-for-7 on the power-play while Brock was 0-for-4. The Lancers outshot Brock 28-26.

The men close out the first half of the season with their outdoor game at Comerica Park against Western on Monday, December 16, and resume conference play on January 4 at the WFCU Centre where they will host the Ryerson Rams.
