ST. CATHARINES, Ont.-
Jenny MacKnight tallied her second goal of the game just 13 seconds into the overtime period, and the Windsor Lancers women's hockey team defeated the Brock Badgers on Friday night at the Seymour-Hannah Centre.
The victory moves Windsor (5-4-1) above the .500 mark and into sixth-place in the conference heading into Saturday's games. MacKnight's first of the night in the second period gave the women a 3-1 lead after Windsor goals from
Erinn Noseworthy in the first and
Candice Chevalier in the middle frame.
However, the Badgers came back to even the contest with markers in the second and third period, sending the game into overtime. It was there that MacKnight notched her team-leading eighth goal and 15th point of the year to put the Lancers back in the win column.
Chevalier had a two-point night with a goal and assist while
Adalena Tridico chipped in with two helpers.
Marissa Kozovski turned aside 27 of 30 shots for the victory.
The Lancers end their road weekend at Guelph on Saturday, with face-off set for 2:00 p.m. The women return to South Windsor Arena on November 16 to take on the Queen's Gaels.
