Lancers lose hard-fought battles to Blues, Rams

Box Score WINDSOR, Ont.- The Windsor Lancers women's volleyball team dropped its final home matches of the season this weekend at the St. Denis Centre. 

The Lancers were defeated 3-1 (25-15, 22-25, 25-16, 25-21) by the Toronto Varsity Blues on Friday evening.

In a tightly contested match for three of four sets, the women came up just short after battling to notch the contest at 1-1 after taking the second set.  Senior Kaila Seguin topped the Lancers with a game-high 16 kills and 19 points, while Chelsey Drouillard recorded a team-best 27 kills.

In a pre-game ceremony, Drouillard was awarded the second Karen Harvie Memorial Award, which is presented every year to a Lancer volleyball athlete.  

The Lancers looked to rebound on Saturday, where it was "Get Your Pink On" day at the St. Denis Centre.  Taking on the fourth-place Ryerson Rams, the women dropped the match 3-1 (25-14, 25-15, 24-26, 25-20). 

In her final home game wearing the Blue and Gold, senior Kaila Seguin picked up a team-high 17 kills after being honoured a a pre-game ceremony commemorating her four-year career with the Lancers. 

Shannon Dean and Brianna Balzer added eight and six kills respectively for the Lancers, who drop to 3-13 on the season. 

The Lancers will close out their season next weekend, when they travel to Waterloo and Guelph on February 8 and 9 respectively.
