Box Score The Lancer men's hockey team lost their second straight game on Saturday night with a 4-1 road loss to the Guelph Gryphons.
With the loss the Lancers drop one point behind Guelph and Lakehead, who are tied for second place in the OUA West. Windsor (16-9-1) will close out the regular season with two important games against the Waterloo Warriors (11-10-5) and first place Western Mustangs (21-4-1).
The Lancers were first to score with a goal from
Paul Bezzo, with assists being credited to
Christian Steingraber and
Jadran Beljo at 5:39. The Gryphons created several scoring chances, but went 0/2 on the power play and kept getting shut down by an exceptionally tight Lancer defence and an outstanding performance in net by
Parker Van Buskirk.
Van Buskirk continued to make many clutch saves for the Lancers, but the Gryphons managed to find the back of the Lancer cage at 13:34. The home team then scored with less than two minutes to go to hold a 2-1 lead heading into the final period.
The Gryphons scored two unanswered goals in the third period, scoring their third of the game midway through the period, and then added an empty net goal with less than thirty seconds remaining in regulation.
