WINDSOR, Ont.- The Windsor Lancers men's football team will look to get back in the win column this Saturday, September 7 when they head to Kingston, Ont. to take on the CIS No. 2 ranked Queen's Gaels.
The Lancers are coming off a heart clenching 24-23 loss to the Guelph Gryphons on Labour Day Monday, where Windsor could not hold off a late Gryphons drive with a minute remaining in regulation that ended with a game-winning field goal.
Austin Kennedy (Windsor) tallied 371 passing yards and two touchdown passes, but threw an interception that was returned for a touchdown that gave Guelph a lead early in the second half. The hometown native was under pressure through much of Monday's affair, getting sacked on ten different occasions.
The Gryphons feasted on Windsor's two turnovers, turning them each into six points.
Evan Pszczonak had another formidable outing as Windsor's go-to target. The Amherstburg, Ont. native recorded 172 receiving yards and caught his fourth touchdown pass of the year. Pszczonank sits atop the CIS with 274 total reception yards and four touchdown receptions after the first two weeks of the season.
The Lancers will also be looking to re-ignite their ground game after they totalled just 87 total yards one week after blazing through Alumni Field and the Waterloo Warriors for 398 yards in their home opener.
Defensively, Windsor held Guelph to 223 yards of offence, allowing just six points (two field goals) from the Gryphon offense. They also tallied four sacks on the day, and will look to continue their strong play against the second-ranked team in the nation on Saturday afternoon.
The Gaels are coming off a big 31-24 win over the two-time defending Yates Cup champion McMaster Marauders on Monday.  Queen's did so despite a 227-yard total offence compared to McMaster's 495.
However, two interceptions that were returned for majors as well as three field goals made outside a distance of 30 yards helped the Gaels maintain an unblemished record heading into the third week of the season.
The Lancers will do battle with the Gaels in Kingston on Saturday, and kick-off has been set for 1:00 p.m. The game will be available live online
