SUDBURY, Ont.-
Jenny MacKnight and
Bree Polci each recorded two goals, leading the Windsor Lancers women's hockey team to a 5-2 victory over the Laurentian Lady Vees on Saturday evening.
The win moves the Lancers (8-7-1) one game above the .500 mark and into 7th place in the OUA standings.
After the hosts opened the scoring, Windsor railed off three straight markers, one in each period, before Polci's second of the evening and eighth of the season provided a two-goal cushion for the women early in the final frame.
Erinn Noseworthy added a power-play marker to put the game out of reach with just over five minutes left in regulation.
Jenny MacKnight led all skaters with four points on the evening, and
Marissa Kozovski stopped 17 of 19 shots to earn the victory for Windsor, who was 1-for-3 on the power-play and perfect on the penalty kill where they picked up a short-handed goal.
The Lancers will head to North Bay tomorrow afternoon for a 1:30 p.m. puck-drop against the Nipissing Lakers.
