Men's Hockey falls to Ryerson to open 2014

Box Score The No.9 ranked Lancer men's hockey team opened the 2014 calendar year with a 4-1 loss to the No. 10 Ryerson Rams on Saturday night at the WFCU Centre in Windsor.

Windsor now holds an 11-6-0 record on the season and are tied for third place with the Western Mustangs in the OUA West division.

Ryerson's Michael Fine opened the scoring at 6:46 of the first period with the Rams first of two power play goals.

The Rams took a two goal lead with 1:20 remaining in the first period, scoring shorthanded goal from Ryan Wise to give Ryerson a 2-0 lead going into the intermission.

Spencer Pommellis scored his seventh goal of the season to help Windsor cut the lead to one in the second period.

However, just four minutes into the third period, Wise would score his second of the game to push the Rams lead to 3-1.

Ryerson's Jason McDonough added another marker with under a minute remaining on the powerplay to finish off the scoring.

The Lancers will look to get back in the win column this weekend when they hit the road for a pair of away games against the Guelph Gryphons and Toronto Varsity Blues.
