After returning to the OUA playoffs for the first time since 2006 last year, the Lancer women's volleyball team are eager to return to the court for the 2014-15 season.
Coach
Lucas Hodgson and the Lancers open their season on the road this weekend as they head up to McMaster to take on the OUA Champion Marauders in their season opener on Saturday night, before heading over to St. Catharines on Sunday to face the Brock Badgers.
The Lancers completed an extensive pre-season that saw them face some strong opponents, including three of the top teams in the NAIA, Grand View University, Madonna University, and NAIA Champions Texas-Brownsville University.
Windsor is coming off a 10-9 campaign that saw them finish in third place in the OUA West division. In the post season the Lancers fell to the eventual champion Marauders in the west division quarter-finals.
The Lancers will rely heavily on OUA all-star
Shannon Dean and veteran outside hitter
Hannah Robson for the offence attack, along with setter
Danielle Lenarduzzi.
Incoming rookie
Richelle Brown will be vying to make an immediate impact to help the team meet their goal of making the playoffs for a second consecutive season.
"I think with our current athletes and the talent we have brought in we are going to have a very exciting season," said Hodgson. "This team has been the closest team I have worked with in my career and we feel that will help us get through the? long season ahead."
Following two weekends on the road, the Lancers will open their home campaign on Halloween when the Lancers host the Guelph Gryphons at 6:00pm at the St. Denis Centre.
Season tickets for Lancer Volleyball are available for only $50 and can be purchased online at www.goLancers.ca.
