Lancer Football falls to Ravens in Ottawa

Box Score The No. 10 Lancer football team lost just their second game of the season on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Carleton Ravens 21-18 in Ottawa.
 
The Lancers are now 5-2 on the season, while the Ravens improve to 4-3.
 
Austin Kennedy went 25-for-41, for 278 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the loss. Tarrence Crawford once again led the Lancer rushers with 89 yards on 15 carriers, while Beau Lumley led all receivers with 88 yards and one touchdown before leaving the game early due to injury.
 
The Ravens defense was solid all day against the Lancers, holding the Blue & Gold to just 434 total offensive yards. Both teams were heavily penalized throughout the game with Windsor being charged with 12 penalties for 68 yards and the Ravens being called on 19 offenses for 161 total yards.
 
Windsor got on the board early as the Ravens conceded a safety on a botched a snap on their first drive of the game.
 
The Ravens took a one point, 3-2 lead with 11:16 remaining in the first with a 26-yard field goal.
 
Kennedy became one touchdown closer to claiming the OUA record when he connected with Lumley on a 43-yard pass late in the first quarter giving Windsor a 9-3 lead at the end of the first quarter.
 
In the 2nd, the Carleton defense was solid against every drive the Lancers attempted. Windsor fumbled the ball twice and conceded a safety before finally kicking the ball through the up-rights. Anthony Malandruccolo kicked a 16-yard field goal to put the Lancers up 12-5.
 
Late in the quarter, the Ravens blocked a punt from Malandruccolo and ran the ball into the end zone to tie the game at twelve. On Windsor very next drive, the Blue & Gold were forced to concede the safety and trailed the host Raves 14-12 at the half.
 
In the third, Windsor scores four points with a rouge and 26-yard field goal to regain the lead 16-14 with 8:33 left in the quarter. However, on the Ravens very next drive, the hosts run 75-yards into the end zone and retake the lead 21-16 with 8:04 remaining.
 
The lone score in the fourth quarter came with under one minute remaining when the Ravens conceded their second safety of the game.
 
Windsor will close out the regular season next week when they travel up the 401 to play the Western Mustangs on Saturday, October 25th. The game can be seen live at 1:00pm at www.oua.tv.
